Information for Buyers

1. All bids are subject to the Notices and Conditions of Sale printed in the catalogue or displayed in the saleroom, but neither Francis Smith nor its employees nor agents shall be liable to either the buyer or to the seller for any neglect or default or failure in operating the bid.
    
2. An instruction to buy with no upper limit will not be accepted.
    
3. Where identical bids are left in the same lot, the earlier bid left will take precedence.
    
4. Please complete the bidding slip in full.
    
5. Lots will be sold as cheaply as permitted by other bids and reserves.
    
6. Francis Smith accept no responsibility for error in connection with commission bids.
    
7. Please phone the day after the sale for results.
    
8. If your bid is successful, the amount payable will be the hammer price plus a buyer’s premium of 20% + VAT ie, 24% is the total % on top of the hammer price.
    
9. Please read the methods of payment in the catalogue.
    
10. Carriers must have the appropriate paperwork or receipt for goods to be released.
     
11. Successful commission buyers will be phoned after the auction. 
     
12. If you need goods delivered/collected, please arrange with a carrier immediately. 
     
13. Storage charge of £20 per day + VAT will be incurred on uncollected lots.
